Plant is professed to bring a year of good fortune when it blooms during the Chinese new year which falls in late January or early February. Every year at this time the plant flushes with masses of buttercup like blossoms. The sepals later enlarge and turn a brilliant crimson while the seeds go from green to glossy black. At this stage the resemblance to the Disney character is uncanny.

In Vietnam, due to the beauty of the tree and its flowers, the word mai is used to name girls. The largest hospital in Hanoi is named Bach Mai (white plum blossom) another hospital in Hanoi is named Mai Huong (the scent of plum), situated in Hong Mai (pink plum blossom) street.

Hoang Mai (yellow plum blossom) is the name of a district in Hanoi. Bach Mai is also a long and old street in Hanoi.

All these places are located in the south part of Hanoi, where, in the past, many P. mume trees were grown.

Due to its characteristics, beautiful flowers and a tall, slender tree, mai is used to describe the beauty of women in expressions crane's body, plum's bones, as slender as a plum tree.
and won Princess after seeing a parallel couplet. the name of the princess, but also means a branch of mai, implying a beautiful girl.

Shipping Policy

The plants are sent with moist sphagnum moss mix with potting soil covered the roots, wrapped with newspaper. We will pack the plants the best we can to be sure the plants arrive healthy.

SPECIAL SHIPPING NOTE: Some states have their own importing restrictions/regulations, so please check with your local Post Office or the Agriculture department BEFORE BIDDING. It is the buyers’ responsibility to become informed of their local/state restrictions...NO REFUNDS will be issued due to REFUSED/RETURNED/DESTROYED plants. Plants that arrive at your local post office, may be delayed, perhaps opened & inspected, possibly refused, repackaged & then returned lifeless or even destroyed. If these cases occur, WE DO NOT hold any responsible.

Additionally, plants don't like shipping and can look a bit wilted & bedraggled when they arrive at new locations. Some plants will even drop leaves in protest. This is not cause for alarm. We are not responsible for temperature damage of plants during transportation (heat or cold). Please notify us if weather is not permitting, we can hold your order! If your plant does not arrive alive, I will replace the plant. Customers have to pay for the shipping. Just e-mail me with a photo of the plant within 24 hours after receive, I will be happy to replace it.
